Hello everyone.

We installed a fresh windows 2000 and we were trying to graph the CPU load,
I have mrtg installed on debian sarge

we found on internet different versions of informants that according to the
documentation should be on the top of SNMP service installed on windows.

after that, we tested try to obtain the neccessary information using getif
(from another windows box on the network), and the appropiate MIB for this
case, but never ever this software gave us the CPU load of this box.

On the SNMP service's configuration we took care about the community name
and the proper permissions, whithout any result yet.

?could somebody answer me which is the correct version of informant that
should be used in this case, an any other details that should be considered
to put it up and running properly?

Thanks in advance for any answer

If by "informat" you are referring to SNMP Informant, you should start
with the free version (currently v1.4), which will allow you to graph
CPU usage.

Install it on the server you want to monitor. Then, copy the c:\program
files\snmp informant\standard\mibs\smiv1\WTCS.MIB and Informant-STD.MIB
into the Getif\Mibs directory on the server you have installed Getif
on. After that, delete the .index file from the getif\mibs directory,
and restart getif. At that time you should be able to monitor CPU usage
and other stats.

If you are not able to do so, check that Getif returns valid data for
the basic SNMP values (system description, etc.). If not, then SNMP is
not properly set up. Check that the SNMP service (on the server you
want to monitor) allows remote connections (SNMP service properties)
from remote systems.

Thank you very much!
